Hamilton police looking for man in relation to shooting

Police in Hamilton are on the hunt for a man in relation to a shooting in the city over the weekend.

Te Aihurangi Edwards Tangiora is being sought by police following an incident on Sunday night.

Authorities were called to a house in the suburb of Fairfield after receiving multiple reports of a firearm being discharged at the address, police said.

Detective sergeant Terri Wilson, of the Hamilton Criminal Investigations Bureau, said: "A victim underwent surgery at Waikato Hospital after he was shot and is now recovering.

"Police are now looking for Te Aihurangi Edwards Tangiora in relation to those inquiries.''

Tangiora, 28, is 175cm tall, is of medium to solid build and often has a dark beard, police said.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to contact authorities immediately.

"Waikato Police would also like to speak to any witnesses to Sunday night's shooting - or anyone who may have information surrounding the incident.''
