Firefighters have put out a large blaze at a Waikato sandblasting premises this evening.

Four trucks were called out to battle the fire on Manchester Place, in the semi-industrial suburb of Te Rapa, in Hamilton.

The incident was reported just before 6pm.

Northern fire communications shift manager, Scott Osmond, said crews managed to bring the fire under control within half an hour of arriving and were now just dampening down hotspots.

The cause of the blaze is not yet known.
