One person has died in Waipa after a truck and an SUV collided on State Highway 39 earlier this evening.
The crash occurred shortly before 9pm on Kakaramea Rd near the intersection with near Cochrane Rd. The road is now closed while the Serious Crash Unit investigates.
Fire and ambulancewere also on the scene.
Fire services told the Herald they were working to free one person trapped in their vehicle but were unable to confirm whether it was the person who had died or someone else.
