A forensic examination into the death of a young Hamilton woman has raised more questions than it has answered for officers investigating her death.

Officer in charge of the inquiry into the death of the 17-year-old, Detective Senior Sergeant Ross Patterson, said a post-mortem examination was conducted in Auckland today.

The girl's body was found at a house on Te Aroha St shortly after 4am yesterday.

"The examination has identified that further examinations are required which could take several days to complete.

"Until those examinations are concluded we will be unable to ascertain the nature of the woman's death so we will continue to treat the matter as suspicious until we have evidence that proves otherwise."

Mr Patterson said an examination of the Te Aroha St property and the area around it was continuing today as were enquiries with residents in and around the immediate area.

A scene examination and interviews with people at the address were conducted yesterday.

Hamilton CIB Detective Sergeant Simon Cherry said police were notified by ambulance staff.
