She has a soft spot for the Salvation Army. Her grandparents were married in their Salvation Army uniforms.
Lynne also finds inspiration in the story of the Salvation Army coming to NZ.
She quotes from the book Dear Mr Booth by John C. Waite:
"In April 1883 Captain Pollard (20) said to Lieutenant Wright (19): "You go to Auckland in the far north and I'll go to Dunedin in the south; we'll work towards Wellington and shake hands when we get there.
"Nine months later there were 30 officers, 500-600 Salvation Army soldiers, mostly in uniform, marching the streets of Dunedin to the music of five brass bands and one drum and pipe band - over 5000 converts including a great number of drunkards and immoral men and women of all sorts."
