A Huntly woman allegedly caught drink driving with three unrestrained children in the car has appeared in court.

Sharlene Hinemoa Ruiha Takiari, 33, made a brief appearance before a registrar in the Huntly District Court morning after her car was allegedly seen weaving as she drove in the township on Friday night.

Takiari, who is listed on court documents as a caregiver, is alleged to have had four children in the car as she drove down William St, near the Huntly Police Station.

Only one of the children is alleged to have been wearing a restraint.

A breathtest recorded 1105mcg. The legal adult limit is 250mcg.

Takiari's four children, aged between 2 and 10, are now being dealt with by Child, Youth and Family.

Takiari entered no plea to charges of driving with an excess breath alcohol level of 1105mcg on William St, driving while forbidden and a representative charge of putting children at risk on November 25. The latter charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years' prison.

Takiari, who was supported in court by a friend, was remanded on bail on condition she not drive. She will reappear next week.
