Timothy Morgan, 47, of Kihikihi, faces seven charges after an alleged family harm incident in Waipa yesterday.

Timothy Morgan, 47, of Kihikihi, faces seven charges after an alleged family harm incident in Waipa yesterday.

A Kihikihi man has appeared in court after an alleged family harm incident in Waipa.

Timothy Leonard Morgan was sporting pink and black rugby shorts as he made a brief appearance in the Hamilton District Court on Tuesday afternoon on seven charges.

Police were called to a property on Mellsop Rd, Parawera, between Arapuni and Kihikihi, just before 12.50pm on Monday.

Cordons were in place near Arapuni Rd and the public was asked to avoid the area.

Armed police, including the Armed Offenders Squad, as well as the Police Negotiation Team, helped bring the incident to a safe conclusion, police said in a statement.

Cordons were lifted, and the road was opened shortly after 6pm.

Morgan didn’t enter any pleas to charges of wounding with intent to injure, threatening to stab, possession of a butcher’s knife with an intent to cause bodily injury, presenting a metal pole at two complainants who were likely to believe that it was a firearm, two charges of threatening to kill relating to three complainants, and breaching a protection order.

His lawyer, David Venter, didn’t apply for bail but indicated it might be sought in the near future.

Morgan was remanded in custody by Community magistrate Brenda Midson without plea to reappear in court later this month.

He was also ordered not to contact any of the complainants.
