LAWSON'S DRY HILLS MARLBOROUGH PINOT NOIR 2009, $27
If you like your pinot packed with classic cherry, wild strawberry and spicy well, spices; then this is the wine for you. Silky-smooth in the mouth and leaving a lovely line of freshness on the finish, this vintage from one of Marlborough's top producers is just hitting its straps now. www.lawsonsdryhills.co.nz
TOWNSHEND BREWERY 'TE LAGA' 500ml, $9.20
Made by one of New Zealand's only "real ale" producers (for a definition, visit their website), this lager has a hint of cloudiness about it, but is anything but when it comes to aroma and flavour. I love the sweet malt, the fruity intensity of the hops, the silky, succulent mouthfeel and crisp, clean finish. Darn tasty and definitely one of my favourite brews of the moment. www.townshendbrewery.co.nz
GREYSTONE BRITTLE STAR WAIPARA RIESLING 2011, $30
Created from tiny amounts of naturally raisined riesling comes this toffee-laden tropical treat. Heavenly honeysuckle, sweet, punchy peach and luscious, lovely, refreshing length of flavour means it's absolutely stunning stuff, but only 60 cases were produced so be quick. www.greystonewines.co.nz
