A vintage 110-year-old villa is now home to Te Awamutu's Skin Beauty and Day Spa.
This new location has allowed the opportunity to create a unique spa retreat for the community.
Before its big move, Skin was operating virtually unseen on Sloane St. It was hidden at the back ofa building behind a hairdresser – formerly The Salon.
It now operates from 923 Alexandra St.
Owner Nikki Gibbison says ever since she bought the business she has wanted to move it to a better location and so the journey began.
"It was a nice location but it was hard to find with no street access and that also limited us to being able to promote, we just didn't get those walk-in clients. I had also been thinking about what else we could do in the space but really we were quite limited," says Nikki.
"Then I happened to see this house for sale and I knew that it would be perfect.
"It has taken a long time to get here, it's taken a year, but it's definitely paid off. Its created such a different feel."
Nikki is particularly excited that with the new space she has been able to set up a couple's treatment room, a service that was not offered anywhere in Te Awamutu prior.

The new space also has created room for three treatment rooms and a pedicure room.
"There was nowhere in town that did couples treatments and they are something we have always been asked for," says Nikki.
"No longer do couples need to travel away for a romantic getaway, there is a slice of paradise right here."
Nikki and her team have spent the past year renovating the villa and have done most things themselves from upholstering furniture to wallpapering and painting the exterior.
They had support and help from businesses such as Murray Gane Plumbing, KD Electrical, Guthrie Bowron and from Nikki's partner who is a builder.
"It was a bit of a gamble taking it on, you know it's 110 years old, you never know what you're going to find," says Nikki.
"It's been hard going but to see the result of what we've got makes it completely worth it."
