Time is running out to dig out your best pink gear ahead of this year's Rotorua Pink Walk.
The October 19 walk, now in its ninth year, is the major fundraiser for the Rotorua Breast Cancer Trust as well as being a fun, family event and a special way to remember those who had had breast cancer.
Organiser Kylie Lang said she hoped the event would raise about $10,000 - all of which stayed locally to support Rotorua women and their families.
Ms Lang said the trust offered individual support to about 100 women and their families each year. Support was varied on what each person needed and could range from lymphatic massage to help with petrol.
"We do a lot of personal support. We are real people dealing with each person as they come through."
They also offered a monthly support group, she said.
Ms Lang said anecdotally the trust seemed to be seeing more women referred to the service for support.
"They are coming through more and more which is horrible. The cancer nurse was saying close to 10 women a month are being diagnosed."
Ms Lang said the Pink Walk would be a similar format to previous successful events.
It follows a 3.5km flat route from the Village Green.
The walk will start at 6pm, with festivities and registration starting at 4.30pm.
Included again this year will be the release of homing pigeons and a moment of reflection ahead of the walk.
Entry is $5 for adults and $3 for children under 12. People can register online at rotoruabreastcancertrust.org.nz or at Ray White or Aroha Mai.
Registrations can also be completed at the event.
