Planned work to replace the concrete boat ramp at the Tarawera landing will now take place next week.
From Monday, contractors will work to remove the old ramp and construct a new one in its place, Rotorua Lakes Council said.
The ramp and jetty will be closed while work takes place, meaning boaties will need to launch at either Boatshed Bay or Stoney Point.
Originally scheduled for late this month, contractor availability and the deterioration of the current ramp meant the work had been brought forward.
The early start date also means the ramp should be fixed in time for the school holidays.
All going well, the jetty and ramp should be reopened by Friday.
Rotorua Lakes Council has set out $2 million in the 2018-2028 Long Term Plan to enhance lakes infrastructure.
Other planned works include upgrades to the facilities at Boyes Beach and Acacia Bay at Lake Ōkareka.
This includes replacing the existing boat ramp with a new three-lane ramp. That work is likely to start later this month and closures will be in place.
Upgrades to toilets at Matahi Spit at Rotoma and the Ohau channel boat ramp and carpark are also planned.
