Concerns about a group of people holding what looked like a rifle has sparked an armed police call out in Sunnybrook.
A police spokeswoman said police recieved a call from a member of the public saying the group were seen at the back of a Pegasus Drive property holding what looked like a rifle but could have been a slug gun or BB gun.
No shots were heard, she said.
Police have since found the group and are speaking with them.
Earlier a police spokeswoman told the Rotorua Daily Post a group of young people were reported to have been acting suspiciously and police were armed "as a precaution".
She said there was no risk to members of the public.
