Rotorua gets the chance to hear guitar wizardry when American Richard Gilewitz plays in the city this Sunday.
His six and 12-string guitar wizardry and diversity of sound explores folk, Americana, blues, pop and classical.
"Acoustic Adventures are Richard's interpretation of a multitude of genres through his finger picking technique - from bluegrass to blues, folk to jazz and more," says show organiser Karin Vincent of The Rogue Stage.
"He plays Leo Kottke's compositions, among his own. There is no vocals, so this is purely listening to fingerstyle acoustic guitar. He breaks up the performance with stories of his previous tours and gives a great audience experience."
She said people who loved listening to the acoustic guitar would enjoy the show and because the blues genre had a big fan base in Rotorua, she hoped to get a strong audience on Sunday.
"Meander in acoustic melodies and enjoy humorous stories. Its a very personal and intimate show, where the audience can ask questions or strike up a conversation with Richard afterwards," she said.
Gilewitz is a contributing writer for Acoustic Magazine (UK), Ukulele Magazine (UK), the L2P Network and has been featured in several other trade magazines such as Premier Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, and Fingerstyle Guitar.
A special rate is available to all guitar tutors and teachers to bring their students along to learn & watch. Contact Karin at theroguestage@gmail.com.
