One person has died after a crash on Meeanee Rd in Napier.

The man in his 40s died after a collision between a car and pedestrian on Meeanee Rd, Jervoistown, about 10.30pm on Friday.

The road was closed for several hours as the police Serious Crash Unit examined the scene, however, it has now reopened.

Police want to hear from anyone who saw a person walking along Meeanee Rd about 10.30pm.

Anyone with information should contact police on 105 quoting job number P041405818.
