The error, which has now been fixed, was spotted by staff yesterday morning.
A Hastings District Council spokeswoman said the initial work was done on Sunday bya private company contracted to paint the car park in time for season opening yesterday.
"Council cannot say what caused it - our concern was to contact the company to get the errors fixed. How it happened is a matter for that company to resolve."
The area for "emergency vehicles" was instead written "emergancy vehicels".
Splash Planet declined to comment on the incident.
