An Air New Zealand flight bound for Napier has this afternoon been diverted due to an issue with one of the hydraulic systems on board.
A spokesperson said flight NZ5105, which took off from Auckland carrying 66 passengers and four crew, landed in Hamilton without further incident.
Emergency services wereon standby and the spokesperson said this was the "standard precautionary response" to such situations and did not constitute an emergency landing.
The diversion comes just one day after another Air New Zealand plane had to return to Palmerston North Airport after developing a problem with its hydraulics.
It was reported emergency services were sent to the airport and passengers were asked to brace in emergency positions for landing.
The plane touched down safely on the tarmac a few hundred metres from the terminal and passengers were then taken to an Air New Zealand lounge, where they were offered a cup of tea or coffee.
