Police have found a quantity of synthetic drugs, cash and a BB pistol at a Maraenui address following a search warrant this morning.

A 40 year old male and a 31 year old female are due to appear in the Napier District Court on September 6 charged with possession for supply of a non-approved psychoactive substance.

"Synthetic cannabis is believed to be prevalent in our community and it's causing harmful effects on those who take it, and on their families," says Acting Sergeant Craig Smith, Maraenui Neighbourhood Policing Team.

"We are working hard alongside our partner agencies and the wider community on addressing this issue, and holding those who supply these drugs to account for their actions."

"We urge anyone in Maraenui who is impacted by synthetic cannabis or other drugs, whether it is them themselves or a family member, to seek help."

People in the community that are aware of others involved in the supply of synthetic drugs are encouraged to contact their local Police, or to report anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Anyone affected by synthetic cannabis or other drugs can seek help contacting Community Mental Health and Addictions Service on 06 8788109 (ext.
