Whananaki Rural Fire Force is in the market for helicopter landing lights, thanks to a grant from the Fonterra Grass Roots Fund.

Rescue helicopter crews have had difficulty locating incident scenes, which the lights solve.
The grant was one of 14 ranging from $500 to $5000 in Northland. Other recipients included
Te Rarawa JMB Rugby Club and Te Kohanga Reo o Te Ohaki. Fonterra's global sponsorship manager Kane Silcock said the fund supported initiatives that enriched people's lives and benefited their communities.

"It's our way of supporting projects and ideas that bring our communities together and make them better, safer, more vibrant places to be," he said.
