The Northland Age crew in 1918 - a world away from coronavirus.

The end of an era?

What might well prove to be the end of an era began on Monday morning, March 30, 2020, when the Northland Age was told that it would not publish the following day. For the first time in 116 years, the country's northernmost newspaper did not hit the streets.

It is not clear at this stage whether the hiatus will end when the Covid-19 lockdown does, or whether it will be permanent. Hopefully we will publish again at some point, but that might well prove to be a false hope.

In the meantime we will continue to publish what we can on this website, and on our Facebook page. And editorial can continue to be contacted at editor@northlandage.co.nz
