Northland's Bream Bay Swim Club has claimed the title for being New Zealand's top club at division two level, with 33 medals landed between nine swimmers.
Bream Bay were one of the smallest teams, who travelled the furthest, yet managed to take the major team honours in the State NewZealand Division 2 Swimming Competition in Invercargill over four days.
Of Bream Bay's 33 medals - of which 15 were gold, seven silver, and 11 bronze - Kieran Swords was an unlikely hero for his team as he powered his way to nine medals, claiming nearly a third of his club's total.
Overall, Swords finished second equal in the leading male medallist honours. He again finished second in the gold medal tally, with his five golds being one less than Levin's Shawn O'Hara who also won the leading male medallist title with his 11.
As a result of Swords' and his clubmates' efforts, Bream Bay finished the four-day meet at Splash Palace at the top of the team ratings, well clear of the next best club.
They finished on 1112 points, ahead of Jasi on 946.5, fellow Christchurch club Wharenui on 6665, Hamilton's Ace club on 584, and North Canterbury on 530 in the age competition for swimmers 13 to 18 years of age.
The division two competitions sits about third in relation to its ranking against other top NZ contest - behind NZ Opens and NZ Age Groups Championships.
