Threatened wet weather did not eventuate and Good Friday dawned fine over Kaikohe Speedway for the annual CTRA Championships.
First up were the Super Saloons, where Waikato driver Peter Candy joined Northland drivers Ray Jordan, Max Andresen, Geordie Inglis and Warwick Taylor. Jordan led the field home comfortably in thefirst heat, while Taylor won heats two and three.
Taylor won the final with Jordan in second and after a high speed spin from Max Andresen, Candy came in third.
Northland's Darren Emm and Rotorua's Alan Wong, both in Holdens, battled for the Super Production Trophy, with Emm emerging the victor. Rex Roycroft came home in third.
The B Saloons clash was won by Dargaville's Craig Nash. Nash and Whangarei's Dan Oliver came together in the third heat and Nash sustained some damage which was repairable, and went on to win the final from Oliver and Dargaville's Aaran Johnston.
Gavin McClinchie showed true pace in the Mini Sprints to take the title from Rose Sparrow, while Jared Taylor beat Mitch Watts to the chequered flag in TQs grade.
Dave and Ryan Decke came out the winners in adult Ministocks ahead of Mike Wells, while Benjamin Lecren led Hayden Guptill and Breyton Davison to the finish line in the 1/4 Midgets.
Deb Wilson drove superbly to take out the Ladies C Saloon title over Carole Teixeira and Jaimie-Lee Aukett.
The ATV grade saw an exciting finish from Darren Emm when he blew his engine with one lap to go. Emm pushed his ATV around for the last lap to cross the finish line.
This strenuous effort to vocal urgings from spectators gained Emm the points he needed to earn the title from Gavin Millen and Ben Smith.
