A goal 10 minutes into the second-half by Harley Freeman saw Onerahi subdue a brave challenge by Bream Bay on Saturday in the Stafford Choat men's football knockout tournament.
The premier league side struggled to break down the defence of the first division side in blustery conditions at the airport ground
and Freeman's goal - after a goal-mouth melee - saved blushes on their behalf and the threat of extra time and penalties.
They will face the FC Whangarei premier league side this Saturday in what should be one of the best quarterfinal clashes after FC comfortably beat Bay Cosmos 6-1.
Madhatters Premiers earned a place in the quarterfinals thanks to a last minute own goal by FC Whangarei Blue and will line up against Kerikeri Reserves on Saturday.
Kerikeri continued their great form this season with an 8-0 away thumping of Tikipunga Reserves, and the match against Madhatters should be another highlight of the quarterfinals.
In the final game of the weekend, Kamo destroyed Kaikohe 9-1, with three players recording hat-tricks.
Steve Schimmel, Keegan Baddeley and Sammy Oso were the only scorers as Kamo displayed their scoring ability. They team will be firm favourites going into their quarterfinal against Central Brown reserves this weekend.
As expected North Force women's team beat Kamo in the semifinal of the Federation Cup - what wasn't expected was how close the match was on Sunday.
Kamo striker Casey Soff was slotted into the defence once again, and as sweeper she largely neutralised the North Force attack.
The North Force side managed just one goal to Hannah Wilkinson in the first half and it wasn't until the fourth quarter that they finished the game off with goals to Julie Jansen and Vicki-Jo Hemara.
The North Force team will now attempt to complete the league and cup double.
The venue and the date is up in the air, however, after the other semifinal was postponed on Sunday by heavy rain.
In other women's games, Kerikeri High School and Hora Hora had wins on Sunday.
Kerikeri beat Whangarei Girls High School 6-3 to maintain their hopes of winning the Northland women's league, while Hora Hora beat Onerahi 5-0.
Both league matches doubled as League Cup matches.
