The clash between leaders Wellsford and the hard-charging Mid Northern will take centre stage in the Southern Districts Premier Grade tomorrow.
Mid Northern have quickly become competition favourites after thumping previous leaders Mid Western 61-3 but Wellsford have been a bogey team for them.
Wellsford have become the competition leadersby showing consistency this season and, importantly, are unbeaten at their Centennial Park base, where the two teams will meet tomorrow.
Hikurangi, who bore the brunt of Mid Northern's renaissance last weekend, return to their home ground tomorrow to host Kamo. The visitors can't lose this match if they want to maintain their challenge for silverware in their 125th jubilee year.
Second-placed Mid Western could go top of the table again this weekend if Wellsford lose and they account for the struggling Western Sharks at Maungakaramea.
Marist host an interesting Whangarei derby against Hora Hora at Kensington Park. Both are confident they can stay in touch with the leaders after wins last week so competition will be intense.
