Rising star on top form

Waipu's up-and-coming star Kelsey Power made the under-12 and under-14 finals of the Northland junior closed tournament at the Thomas Neale Tennis Centre over the weekend.
Power defeated Onerahi's Melina Perkins 9-3 in the final of the under-12 competition before falling just short of the double in the under-14 final when she was defeated in a tie-breaker by clubmate Renee Russell.
Kaitaia's Kadin Brake was in good form as he defeated Kamo's Ashley Kitchen 6-4, 7-5 in a tight under-14 final, while Brian Hill won the under-16 title and Mark Hill the under-18 title unopposed.
Mairtown's Heather Turnball beat Rebekah Brace in the under-16 girls' final while Alana Torrie won the under-10 girls' title.
