Former Taniwha Rene Ranger will stride out for the World XV tomorrow wearing the No13 jersey, having already done the damage for the Barbarians.

Ranger, 27, will play alongside his Montpellier teammate Wynand Olivier and Aussie legend Matt Giteau, who will captain the side in tomorrow's non-cap test in South Africa.

Last weekend, Ranger turned it on for the Barbarians in their 39-29 win over England at Twickenham, setting up a try and barging over England first-five Henry Slade twice - requiring the 21-year-old to have nine stitches above his eye.

Slade got in the way of Ranger, as he offloaded the ball to set up a try early in the match, which created the wound above his eye. He again felt Ranger's power later on as the former All Black tripped over during a break and mowed Slade over, re-opening the cut from earlier in the game.

Tomorrow's World XV match does not have test status so will not count for much, but it is the first time a World XV team has played in South Africa in 25 years. Ranger is joined in the World XV by former All Blacks in hooker Andrew Hore, halfback Jimmy Cowan, Hosea Gear, Benson Stanley and prop Carl Hayman.
