A Caitlin Alabaster special has led Northland FC to a resounding away victory in their latest AFF/NFF Women's Conference match.
Travelling to face Manukau City, Alabaster netted four times in the 7-1 win.
Walter Massey Park played host to a highly physical match-up with neither side wanting to surrender an inch.
Alabaster opened Northland's account early on before a nice play from Anya Gross, weaving through the defence before slotting the strike, doubled their lead.
Northland had the wood on their opponents for the majority of the contest as their superior ball movement proved tough to defend.
Errors on Manukau City's part didn't help their cause as a turnover caught the goalkeeper out of position.
Ava Ducrot sensed an opportunity and fired a long range strike which found the back of the net.
Manukau found themselves in a three-goal hole during the first half and it only got worse for the hosts as Northland continued their assault.
Alabaster then scored one of the goals of the young season.
Playing from the right side, Alabaster eased her way through a trio of defenders to find herself set inside the penalty box.
From there she caressed a left-foot shot into the top left-hand corner to extend Northland's lead to four.
The visitors weren't done with their first half barrage quite yet as Alabaster completed her hat-trick, giving her side a 5-0 lead going into the halftime break.
Manukau needed nothing short of a miracle to haul in Northland during the final 45 minutes and made the right start with a goal soon after the restart.
However, Northland stopped any potential comeback as their offence again proved far too classy for their rivals.
Alabaster capped off a phenomenal performance with a fourth goal while Trudy Sandle also added to the ledger.
The match also offered top development opportunities for Northland as 16th grade players Abby Crene and Emelia Ruddell got their first taste of senior women's football, coming off the bench in the second spell.
The win arrests Northland's early season slide, where they had suffered two straight defeats after starting the season with a home victory.
