Northland selectors Dangen and Jacoby were then set to battle it out over 36 holes to determine the winner of the 2016 Elaine Bledisloe Cup.
The final was expected to be a classic with Dangen and Jacoby very familiar with each other after playing against and with each other for years at representative level.
While Jacoby was the favourite following her recent wins at the Bream Bay Classic and Mangawhai Trophy, she stressed that Dangen didn't make it easy for her.
"Sam was up most of the match, I think she was 3-up after the first 18 holes," Jacoby said.
After making the turn three down, Jacoby powered into her work, staying in touch with Dangen before pipping her at the post in a sudden-death playoff, winning on their 38th hole.
Jacoby was relievedto have got the job done.
"I managed to square the match on our 34th hole of the match and then won the match in sudden-death. It's always a good battle between us," she said.
In the division one plate, twin sisters Soktaera and Soktaerodh Sean battled it out after each lost their first-round matches.
Their match was decided on the 39th hole with Soktaera taking the win from her sister.
Jacoby said the Sean sisters will be great for Northland golf in the near future.
"I played with Soktaera last year and was really impressed with her. This year I had the chance to play Soktaerodh and it's great to see these girls coming through. They play good golf and I think they're going to be a huge asset to Northland golf in years to come."
In division two, Jenny Peters of Northland Golf Club triumphed in her final match against Karyn Ferguson.
The division two plate was won on the 36th and final hole where Danielle Lowe defeated Taimana Ngakuru Smith.
