Northland first-class cricketer Brad Wilson will make his return to the Northern Knights this weekend after struggling to get game time early on in the season.

Wilson, 29, moves into the travelling team for the Knights Georgie Pie Super Smash match tomorrow against the bottom of the table Otago Volts - replacing the gap left by Dean Brownlie and Anton Devcich who travelled to Dubai with the New Zealand A squad on Thursday.

Wilson is joined by Jono Hickey and Joe Walker, who should make his Twenty20 debut.

The defending champion Knights team have got off to a flying start this season, winning five of seven matches but coach James Pamment said that was expected.

"We knew we had to start well, as we knew we'd be losing some of our top players to the A tour. The team have done that, and now it's time for this team to continue."

The Knights play the Otago Volts tomorrow at Wellington's Westpac Stadium.

Also picking up Northern Districts A selection to play a three-day game against Auckland next week are Northlanders Henry Cooper, Rory Christopherson, Tyler Lortan, Brad Kneebone, and Cody Andrews. The Northern Districts A team will be coached by Northland coach Stephen Cunis.

Also in the mix for the A side one-day team this season is Ben Hyde and Kurtley Watson.
