A rare feat was achieved on Saturday as three hat-tricks were scored in a single match when Old Girls demolished Kamo High School in Northland Hockey's Premier Women's Competition.
Hat-tricks were scored by Julia Crum, Tarranah Vette and Jess Mcalister - who scored four goals - in Old Girls' 15-nilvictory.
Vette, who is also Kamo High School's coach, broke her season-long goal scoring drought in the match while Crum was promoted from the midfield to left wing - where she played for Old Girls many-years-ago and has not lost her finishing touch.
Kamo were the unfortunate recipients of a relentless Old Girls attacking workshop.
Old Girls coach Alan Lints said it showed exactly how much work they put into goal scoring at training.
He said Old Girls youngsters Georgia Miller, 15, and Nicola Kelly, 16, used the match to build confidence before they head off as part of the Northland side competing in the national under-21 tournament from May 7-9.
Lints said next week's clash against Springfield will be a tough game but his girls will not be taking the hammer off as there are three teams all within striking distance of top honours in the women's competition.
In other premier women results, Maungakaramea were surprised by Hikurangi's defensive efforts and had to battle for their 2-1 win despite the return of Black Stick Ella Gunson.
Springfield comfortably disposed of Whangarei Girls' High School 4-nil.
In premier men's results Bream Bay thrashed Mangapai 6-1 and Springfield beat Maungakaramea 4-2 in a top-of-the-table clash.
