Northwave swimmers Hayley McIntosh, Ellie Eastwood, David Van der Star and Callum Prime and young Bay of Islands swimmer Emilia Finer were the top performers at the Northland long-distance championships.
Swimming Northland held the 2014/15 championships in the 50m Kauri Coast Pool in Dargaville.
Long-distance pool swimming consists of twoevents - 800m and 1500m.
In the girls' 800m, the fastest time went to Northwave's Hayley McIntosh (15). She recorded a time of 9:26.56 to break her own race record set last year and win gold in the 14/15 years event.
And in the 1500m, Ellie Eastwood (14) set the fastest female time of 19:56.38 to win gold in the 14/15 years event, while Emilia Finer (10) won gold in the 11 years and under event, breaking the race record in the process.
David Van der Star (18) was the fastest male with a time of 17:22.17 to win gold in the 16 years and over section. However, Callum Prime (15) pushed his older Northwave club mate all the way to win gold in the 14/15 years event, setting a race record of 17:25.95.
The other female gold medallist in the 800m was Northwave's Ciara Smith (12/13 years).
In the male section, Whangarei's Jack Milina (11 years and under), Bay of Islands' Logan Gaualofa (12/13 years), Bream Bay's Paul Linton (14/15 years) and Kieran Swords (16 years and over) also won gold.
