Costume planning for the capital's biggest party of the year, the Wellington Sevens, will step up a notch with news $25,000 is up for grabs for the best outfits.
The Sevens are on February 3 and 4, and the announcement from Museum Art Hotel owner Chris Parkin that he isdonating $30,000 - $5000 for set-up and $25,000 for prizes - will give added incentive to last-minute costume preparation.
A catwalk would be set up at the stadium on Friday and Saturday, with the winners announced on the field on Saturday night - finals night, Mr Parkin said.
"While the Sevens has done much to enhance Wellington's reputation as a vibrant and friendly city, it is the fans who transformed this rugby tournament into an international extravaganza," he said.
"And this is (my) way of recognising the contribution the fans make."
