As exam pressures begin to translate into shortages at the cricket pitch on Saturday the Edwards family answered the call - and finished up fielding quarter of the team.
Brothers Michael and James are regular players for the Whangarei Boys' High School Black team who play in the Whangarei senior third grade competition.
However on Saturday the team were struggling for numbers, so younger brother Ben was called into service for the match against Whangarei Boys' High School Red.
But the numbers still didn't add up to 11 and so team manager Tony Edwards - the boys' dad - took the field to take the total of Edwards to four. To cap it all off the team had a win.
High School Red scored 158, with Henry Cooper top scoring, run out just one run short of his half century. The Black team scored 159 for the loss of four wickets with Reece Dean (26 not out) and James Fife (40 not out) steering the team to victory.
