Maungakaramea produced an all-round team performance as they somehow defended a total of 102 in their Lion Red Cup one-day competition match at Kensington Park.
Bowlers J Lee, Joe O'Sullivan, and Michael Harris all picked up three wickets while Jason Morgan picked up one as Maungakaramea knocked over City for38.
Lee produced stunning figures to be the pick of the bowlers with 3 for 4 from 4, followed closely by O'Sullivan with 3 for 10 from 6. Not to be outdone during their match on Saturday, Harris opened the bowling and collected 3 for 12 from his 8 - including 3 maidens.
Not one of City's batsmen reached double figures as their innings was wrapped up inside 25 overs.
For Maungakaramea, Bert Horner and Chris Gurr topped the scoring with 23 a-piece as no other batsmen managed past single digits.
Doing the damage with the ball for City were Kieran Nelson, Steve Morris, and Tim King who all picked up a double - with Nelson the pick with 2 for 12 off 8.3 overs.
Meanwhile, Zest Insurance Whangarei Boys' High School came within an over of victory as they looked to defend their total of 149 against Onerahi Central.
Batting first, Boys' High were all out in the 49th over with Sam Clotworthy and Matthew Lobb topping the scoring with 29 and 27 respectively.
