Sale prices realised on lifestyle and rural properties sold in Northland and greater Auckland in the three months to June 30 were 20 per cent up on those for the same period last year, says Auckland-based real estate company Barfoot & Thompson.
CEO Wendy Alexander said sales were also up10 per cent.
The focus in Northland was on dairy and dry-stock farms, with the price per hectare for dairy farms sitting at around $19,999, for dry-stock farms, $10,000, and for medium-hill country farms suited to sheep and beef use, $5000-$9000.
Ms Alexander said during the past six months the company had sold 179 rural and lifestyle properties, for an average price of $24.4 million; the highest average price in a six-month period for the past four years.
