Walk for breast cancer awareness

A charity auction and prizegiving are part of the "pink" walk on Hatea Loop Walkway raising money for breast cancer research.

The walk, organised by the Breast Cancer Support Northland Trust, will start and finish at the carpark by Te Matau a Pohe bridge at 9.30am tomorrow. A charity auction and prizegiving will be held at 11am at Zest Brokers at 79 Okara Dr, across the road from Cobham Oval.

All money raised by the walkers will go to The Breast Cancer Support Northland Trust to support families in Whangarei and Northland.

A new category introduced this year is the LJ Hooker corporate team challenge where five workmates can get together and enter the walk.

Participants have been urged to wear pink.

There will be music and entertainment along the walk, and food and refreshments will be available to buy.

Online registration has closed but people can register at the venue on the day.

Entry is $10 per person or $30 for a family of five. Registration opens at 9am on Sunday and only cash will be accepted.

The trust's next event is the midwinter Christmas lunch and get-together on July 29 at Whangarei Cruising Club at Kissing Pt on Riverside Dr.
