Two Northland bands are in the running for musical glory at the Battle of the Bands national finals this weekend.
After 41 heats, regional semifinals and finals over two months in Auckland, Hamilton, Mount Maunganui, Wellington and Christchurch, 31 bands have been chosen to compete in the competition's two-legged nationalfinal in Auckland.
And Northland bands, Coda and Kaipara Jammers (The KJs), will be there competing for the crown of best new act.
Coda plays a blend of funk, electronica and roots, and is made up of Petra Stewart on lead vocals, Libby Tohu on backing vocals, Caleb Stewart on drums, Jono Lawson on keyboard, Larn Campbell on bass and Zinzan Hodgson on guitar. The band competes at the Kings Arms, in Auckland, on Friday.
Kaipara Jammers consists of Shaun Darlison on lead guitar, Shanan Healy on rhythm guitar, Aquus Minor on vocals, Isaac Wilkinson on bass and drummer Stevo Oswald.
