It's nearly time for Northland riders and their motorcycles to join Santa and his reindeer to carry out their annual toy run.
This year, the Northland Toy Run "is back where it belongs", in the Kamo Christmas Parade, says Peter Timoko, whose task it is to corral a couple ofhundred motorcyclists into making a big noisy return to Whangarei's biggest Christmas parade.
Bikers from all over Northland and further afield will collect as many toys, books and games as people are willing to donate to them and, after taking part in the Kamo parade on Saturday, November 29, continue on to Whangarei Hospital to deliver the toys to the children's ward.
In fact, admission to the ride requires a bike rider to bring a toy or other suitable gift, Mr Timoko says.
Among the groups that donate to the cause are clubs, service groups as well as pre-school and childcare facilities.
The thrilling, loud, warm fuzzy event has been a highlight of the Kamo parade for many years but was sadly missing last year as it clashed with another campaign, the White Ribbon Ride, which takes a stand against domestic violence.
Mr Timoko, from Hikurangi Riders, has organised the annual Toy Run for the past 21 years.

Otherwise, bikers can roll up with their toys, pillion passengers and big hearts to the Kamo Memorial Hall carpark in Boswell St, at 10am on November 29.
-The Onerahi Christmas Festival and Santa Parade is on December 6, from 9am to 1.30pm, with the parade starting at 12.30pm.
