Minister for Maori Development Te Ururoa Flavell will speak at Powering Up The Maori Economy in Tai Tokerau hui at Kerikeri this afternoon.

Dubbed 'Powering Up The Maori Economy in Tai Tokerau, the regional economic development hui is indeed a powerhouse for the region's future.

Hundreds of iwi leaders, from business to hapu interests, from primary industry planners to govt and social agencies, are at the state-of-Tai-Tokerau talkfest at Kerikeri's Turner Centre today.

This mornings panel discussions were led by entrepreneur and Maori business promoter Harry Burkhardt and deputy director general sector partnerships at the MInistry of Primary Industry (MPI) Ben Dalton. Topics on the agenda this morning were working collaboratively, more strategic use of Maori assets such as land, preparing people for relevant work in the region, forestry and farm developments and post treaty opportunities.

Minister for Maori Development Te Ururoa Flavell will speak at the hui this afternoon.
