A helicopter has just arrived in the Far North to a fire that has reignited and a second chopper has been called in to help.
Ground crew were working to dampen down hotspots in Aupouri Forest land, just north of Te Kao, but raised the alarm about 1pm today. Two
crews from Kaitaia fire brigade were called back to the scene along with the Pukenui Rural Fire Party. A helicopter arrived just after 3pm and immediately a call was put in for another one to attend.
Bulldozers were also needed to put fire breaks in.
Crews were first called in when the fire ignited on Tuesday morning but the fire was quickly contained and most of the mop up crew left yesterday.
