A group Northland shooters will head to Hamilton this weekend to take part in the International Clay Target Shooting Federation Championship.

Sixteen shooters from gun clubs all over Northland will attend the event at the Waikato Gun Club grounds where they will compete against 640 competitors from around the world.

The group will also take part in the New Zealand Clay Target Championships.

The Nationals start tomorrow with a 50 target Ball Trap Competition. Other events during the competition include the 25 Mini Target, 25 Target Double Rise shoot, Handicap by Distance and the 45 target Triples.

On Monday the International Clay Target Shooting Federation Down-The-Line World Championships take place. The bi-annual event features teams from England, Ireland, Wales, South Africa, French Polynesia, Samoa, Australia, and New Zealand, with individual shooters from America, Fiji, New Caledonia and Norfolk Island.
