Mr Sayer said getting the Blues to the school was a chance for the students to meet some "good role models".
"It's role modelling for a healthy life style, keeping active, participation. It's good for a small school to see some televised players," he said.
The rugby team were welcomed with a haka performed by students before the Blues engaged in a question-and-answer session.
Blues hooker and Northland Taniwha player Matt Moulds said it was good to get away from the city.
"The weather's not too flash, but it's a cool place to come to and we're in a nice spot."
The 23-year-old grew up on a farm in Ararua, near Matakohe, and attended Otamatea High School.
Mr Moulds said it was good to be back north.
"My dad and his mate put a pig on the spit last night for us so that went down a treat and was a good start to the week."
The Blues will stay at the Ngunguru Sports Club.
