Rescuers have found the woman and volunteer firefighters have used ropes and a stretcher to bring the woman from her vehicle to the roadside.
She was being taken by St John ambulance to Bay of Islands Hospital at Kawakawa to be checked for a head injury.
------------- Rescuers arefrantically searching for an injured woman trapped in her car that has left a road in Northland.
The woman's car has left State Highway 10 near Puketona and Bulls Gorge, in the Bay of Islands about 10.40am, and although she is injured and "dazed" she is communicating with rescuers on her phone.
Police Northern Communication Shift Inspector Willy Taylor said the woman believes she has crashed about 10m off the road down a bank, as she can hear traffic passing above.
He said she called her husband who in turn called emergency services.
"We are responding to a crash where the person in the motor vehicle has phoned her husband. She is unsure where she is and we are still trying to locate her."
