Four pieces of outdoor exercise equipment will be installed on a section of the Hatea Loop in the next few weeks.

The "Inter-Generational Exercise Equipment Area" will be between the Riverbank Theatre and A'Fare. The $50,000 project has involved Whangarei District Council, Northland District Health Board and Hatea Lions.

It aims to support positive ageing through exercises that promote strength, flexibility, balance and cardiovascular fitness.

Three of the four pieces of equipment would provide dual activities, so there would be seven exercise options on site.
