George Depree knew just what to do with the flash new video camera he won from the Northern Advocate - use it to help his croquet colleagues.
Mr Depree won the Panasonic digital video camera, worth $1000, by taking part in our reader survey competition.
We are still wading through the piles of responses with reader feedback, but Mr Depree's name was drawn to win the camera.
Yesterday he was presented with the video camera while at the Kensington Croquet Club.
And while initially surprised at the prize - he thought it would be a still camera - he knew just what to do with it.
Mr Depree is a coach for the Northland Croquet Association and will use it to video his charges so he can analyse their actions and find ways of improving their game.
"It's exactly what I need.
"It will come in really handy in helping with the players' techniques. It's a marvellous aid to help my coaching."
He has been reading the Northern Advocate since he moved to Whangarei 15 years ago and welcomed the chance to give the paper feedback.
"The readers are really important and it's important for you to get some feedback from us so thank's for the opportunity. And thanks for the camera."
