Northland bachelorette Gab Davenport with the Bachelor NZ's Jordan Mauger at the Waitangi Treaty Grounds.

Northland bachelorette Gab Davenport with the Bachelor NZ's Jordan Mauger at the Waitangi Treaty Grounds.

Northland's bachelorette has no regrets about her time on the Bachelor NZ after missing out on a rose in the latest episode of the show.

However, a Bay of Island's business owner said the screen time the tourist hot spot was getting, after the last four episodes of the reality television show were filmed in the area, was great promotion.

The show started off with 23 women vying for the heart of the Bachelor NZ's Jordan Mauger and Kerikeri woman Gab Davenport made it all the way to the final four. On Tuesday night's episode the 29-year-old stood next to fellow contestant Naz as they waited to hear who would get the final rose.

"It was a nerve-wracking moment. I was thinking, 'come on mate, let's get this show on the road' but I went into the whole experience with eyes wide open so was content with either decision. If I wasn't the right girl for him then he definitely isn't the right guy for me."

It was Naz who got that rose, sending Ms Davenport home and although the show only showed her hugging Erin and Fleur, she said she also hugged Naz. "I definitely hugged all the girls goodbye, in fact I think I hugged Naz twice. I had no bad feelings towards anyone in house," she said.

The last four episodes have been filmed in the Bay of Islands with rose ceremonies and cocktail parties being held at the Waitangi Treaty Grounds. The Bachelor and the women have been on dates at the Kawiti Glowworm Caves, Urupukapuka Island, the Waitangi Mountain Bike Park and kayaking down Waitangi River.

Bay of Islands business owner Sarah Greener, from Alongside Bar which provided furniture for the cocktail evening, said the spotlight was great for showcasing the area.

"It's all about raising the profile of the Bay of Islands and showing the sides of the Bay of Islands not everyone sees. It shows the Bay offers a lot of land based activities like the glow worm caves and the mountain bike park," she said.

Mrs Greener said the Bay of Islands Marketing Group produced a proposal to have the Bachelor NZ filmed in the Bay of Islands. She said showcasing the Bay on television was good for tourism, however it may not instantly translate into an increase in visitors.

"What it will do is put the Bay of Islands at the top of people's lists. For example, if people are looking at a weekend away, before it might have been to Rotorua or somewhere else but this will make people think, actually we could go to the Bay of Islands," she said.

Ms Davenport said after she did not receive a rose, she went straight home to her family in Kerikeri. She would be backing Erin to win Mr Mauger's heart.
