Northland police want more female officers and will be holding a Te Tai Tokerau Women's Recruitment hui in Kerikeri next month.

Northland police look for recruits

As police continue to bolster Northland's thin blue line and look for recruits a hui has been organised. Te Tai Tokerau Women's Recruitment hui will be hosted by police on September 19 at the Cornerstone — Whare Karakia o Manako — in Kerikeri. It will be an opportunity to come along and chat with police officers and ask questions about starting a career with NZ Police. It will run between 17:30 and 19:30.

Police warrant for man who breached community service

Police are looking for a 25-year-old man known to have links in Whangārei and South Auckland. Two warrants for breaching community work are out for the arrest of James Wilson who has links in Whangārei, Papakura, Takanini, Papatoetoe, Otahuhu and Manurewa. He is 165cm tall with a cultural design tattoo on his right forearm. Information on his whereabouts can be passed on to Constable Melissa Auimatagi from Counties Manukau Police on (09) 259 1200 or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

The driver of a car that rolled managed to exit the vehicle unscathed. The crash happened on Redcliffs Rd, off Kapiro Rd in Kerikeri, about 11.30am yesterday. St John Ambulance paramedics arrived at the scene and checked the driver as a precaution. Police are investigating the cause of the crash.

Northlander runs after giving police false details

A Northlander wanted for breach of bail did a runner after allegedly giving police false details. Acting Senior Sergeant Ryan Gray said the 36-year-old man allegedly gave false details when he was stopped in Paihia about 11pm on Saturday. The man then ran away but was located 10 minutes later. He's facing charges of breach of bail and escaping from custody.

Teen arrested in Whangārei
A teenager has been arrested for allegedly threatening City Safe officers in central Whangārei. Acting Senior Sergeant Ryan Gray said a 19-year-old confronted City Safe officers about 12pm on Saturday and allegedly threatened to bash them over a bicycle seized the previous day. The male is facing one charge of threatening to kill and is expected to appear in the Whangārei District Court today.

Lotto

Two Lotto players from Hamilton and Wellington each won $500,000 with Lotto First Division in Saturday's draw. The winning tickets were sold at Chartwell Lotto in Hamilton and on MyLotto to a player from Wellington. Powerball was not struck and has rolled over to Wednesday night, where the jackpot will be $5 million. The winning numbers were 7, 9, 13, 23, 27, 38 with Bonus number 20 and Powerball 3.
