A short pursuit on a Whangarei street ended with a car crashing and the driver being nabbed a short distance away from the scene. Senior Sergeant Darren Sullivan, of Whangarei police, said the pursuit started on Riverside Dr about 10.45pm on Wednesday.

A short time later the car had crashed near Onerahi and the male driver had allegedly left the vehicle. Officers were quick to catch the 30-year-old Whangarei man, who will appear in court today. Court date set in Tribesman case
