There were no surprises in round two of the Premier Reserve Netball Championship, with the closest result being a 46-42 win to Wahine Toa.

While Manawanui Red challenged Wahine Toa early on, leading by three goals at the half time, by three-quarter time Wahine Toa had fought back to be ahead before going on to win by four.

For Wahine Toa on Saturday, the defensive combination of cousins Rita and Renee Himiona at goal keep and goal defence were a force to be reckoned with and they were ably assisted by Addy Campbell at wing defence. Telitha Everitt at wing attack played a strong driving game delivering the ball to the shooters with speed and accuracy.

The combination of Barbara Te Whare at goal shoot and Maria Dick at goal attack was effective and they played with skill and confidence.

For Manawanui Red, Kiri Allen at goal attack had an accurate shooting game and overall a good game. Allen linked well with Raina Smith who had a great game at goal shoot until she moved to goal keep and goal defence to cover an injury where she also played well.

The all Marist game saw Craig's Firestone Marist produce a whopping second half as they won by 35 goals against their clubmates Beds R Us Marist.

After sitting ahead by three goals at the end of the first quarter, Craig's Firestone had a massive second quarter to lead by 14 goals at half time before pushing on to win 57-32.

For Craig's Marist, Lucinda McBeth at goal defence and Erin Gunson at goal keep were a great defensive combination.

The attacking combination of Tracey Bradley at wing attack, Harmony Kingi at centre and Kate Atchison at wing defence set up some nice triangle play. In the shooting circle Germaine Gibson and Rebecca Simpler played well.

For Beds R Us Marist, Anya Garland at wing attack had a strong game and she made herself available through court and feed the shooters some good ball. Karen Compton at wing defence applied good defensive pressure around the opposing circle, and also made herself available for the attackers on the transverse line.

In defence Jackie Marvin at goal keep for the first quarter worked hard getting numerous tips and rebounds, and then she moved into goal shoot. Here, she added height and was a great target for the circle feeders. Lettica Shelford was added to the mix at goal keep and she combined well with Tennielle Cherrington at goal defence.

In the college match between Manawanui Collegiate Red and Kamo High School a close start couldn't be continued as Manawanui Collegiate ran away with it 50-28.
