League: Sodden skies ignored as season kicks off

The first round of the much anticipated Northtec Adam Blair secondary schools mid-week rugby league competition got under way across Northland last night.

In the South Pool, Tikipunga High School hosted Te Kapehu Whetu, Bream Bay College played Dargaville High School in Ruakaka, and the 2015 champions Whangarei Boys' High School travelled to play Bay of Islands College.

In the North Pool, Okaihau College hosted Kaitaia College, Whangaroa College hit the road to play Broadwood Area School, and Northland College went to Kaitaia to face-off against Kaitaia Abundant Life School.

Kamo High School and TKKM Kaikohe/Taipa had the round one bye.
