Portland kept in touch with the leaders of the Rugby League Northland MultiKai Cooker Premiership with a tight 38-34 win over Northern Wairoa.
Portlands win means they stay in touch with the likes of Takahiwai and Otangarei, who both had wins as well.
Otangarei continued their strong form with adecent walloping of Muriwhenua 60-8 while Takahiwai dealt Hora Hora their second heavy defeat in a month 98-nil.
In the other MultiKai Cooker Premiership Hokianga came out on top of Kerikeri 44-20.
